Our opponent has lost both primaries by more than 20 points. Instead of running on a record of results, she is relying on misleading attacks and AIPAC-linked dark-money PACs to tear Aisha Wahab down.

Aisha knows the devastating impact of violent crime firsthand. Her father’s murder remains an unsolved cold case, and its aftermath placed her in foster care. That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to protecting children, supporting women and standing with victims and families left behind.

In office, Aisha has worked to hold offenders accountable, strengthen public safety and put victims first—because she believes safety should work for every family and every community.

Setting the Record Straight

  • The record is clear: Aisha Wahab has consistently voted to punish predators, strengthen human-trafficking laws and protect children and survivors.

    Aisha co-authored & voted for SB 14, which made trafficking a minor a serious felony. Republican Senator Shannon Grove publicly thanked Wahab for championing that legislation as it died for over 10 years before Wahab became Public Safety Chair. “She made sure that she championed this Bill on my behalf.     Wahab voted for SB 1414, which gave prosecutors new authority to bring felony charges against adults who solicit children and/or trafficked minors under 18—and required felony punishment for repeat offenders. In fact, Senator Wahab proposed an amendment to further protect 16 & 17 year olds. Source

    Wahab voted for AB 379, expanding felony eligibility to adults who solicit 16- and 17-year-olds when the adult is more than three years older.The law also strengthened trafficking prosecutions and funded survivor services. Source

    • Wahab was named Trailblazer of the Year by Ruby’s Place, a domestic violence organization.

    • She is the only candidate endorsed by the National Political Women’s Association and the Democratic Action Women’s Network and has a 100% lifetime rating from Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

    As Public Safety Chair, Aisha fought for a balanced approach to bring people together and protect people.

    She made organized retail theft a permanent crime. Wahab authored SB 982, ensuring police and prosecutors can continue targeting coordinated theft rings that hurt local businesses and raise costs for families. Source

    She strengthened the fight against car break-ins and stolen-goods networks. Wahab helped advance a bipartisan retail-theft package that gave law enforcement new tools to prosecute vehicle break-ins and criminals who steal merchandise to resell it. Source

    She protected children and trafficking survivors. Wahab supported laws making human trafficking of a minor a serious felony and strengthening penalties against adults who solicit minors. Source

    • Aisha was recognized as a Retail Champion for her work fighting retail theft by the National Retailers’ Association.

    Aisha Wahab supports building more housing—but not at the expense of affordable homes, renters, workers or local communities.

    She demanded a better SB 79. Wahab voted against earlier versions that lacked adequate protections. She supported the final bill only after it was rewritten to include affordable housing requirements, labor standards, local public input and protections against displacement. Source

    A Record of Real Housing Results

    Creating permanently affordable housing
    Wahab’s SB 555 established a first-in-the-nation plan to expand stable, permanently affordable homes through public, nonprofit and cooperative housing. Source

    Keeping families in their communities
    Her SB 262 rewards cities that adopt policies preventing displacement and promoting housing stability. Source

    Rebuilding after disasters
    Her SB 625 speeds the reconstruction of homes damaged or destroyed by major disasters. Source

    Making housing programs accountable
    Her SB 1357 requires greater transparency from the Housing Authority of Alameda County so residents can more easily understand and access its programs. Source

    Lowering costs for renters and homeowners
    Wahab helped deliver a larger renters’ tax credit, stronger protections against unfair foreclosures, limits on excessive HOA fines and fees, and major investments in affordable housing and first-time homeownership. Source

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    • Aisha Wahab is building more housing, protecting renters and homeowners, and holding developers accountable—because housing policy should put people first.

    • Aisha is the only renter running in this seat and has always prioritized housing at all income levels as her family home was foreclosed on during the Great Recession.

  • THE TRUTH: Wahab stood up to powerful utility companies and protected ratepayers.

    SB 540 was not an affordability bill. Wahab opposed the bill as it did not have stronger guarantees protecting California consumers, clean-energy laws and state oversight. Consumer Watchdog, environmental and labor organizations raised similar concerns as it would move control over key electricity-market rules from California to a new multi state organization with very little control or jurisdiction which may lead to more power to utility organizations and higher prices for consumers.     Wahab authored SB 254, now law, to require more cost-effective wildfire prevention, limit utility profits on certain grid investments, expand relief for lower-income customers and use public financing to lower long-term energy costs. Source

    Aisha also authored the Investor-Owned Utilities Accountability Act, SB 332, to tie utility executive compensation to safety and affordability, disclose customer shutoffs and explore alternatives to the investor-owned utility model. Source

Statement on Social Media

I have been made aware of a racist comment posted on Facebook. I unequivocally condemn it. Racism has no place in our community, our politics, or anywhere else.

As a woman of color who has personally experienced racist and sexist abuse online and in person, I know how harmful this rhetoric is. Throughout this campaign, social media has been filled with racist, sexist, and ageist attacks. It is wrong, and it is precisely why I have chosen to keep this campaign focused on my record, my vision, and the substantive differences in this race.

I am proud to be running an inclusive campaign centered on policies that support the diverse communities of this district and our country. I am the only candidate in this race who has called for abolishing ICE and have a just immigration system, and as a State Senator, I have maintained a 100% record on civil rights. My commitment to immigrant communities, civil rights, and standing against racism and anti-immigrant policies is clear.

My adoptive father is in his 70s and experiencing declining health, something our family has been handling privately. His social media accounts have previously been compromised, and he has also been targeted by scams directed at seniors. When asked about this Facebook comment, he was confused and said he was unaware of it.

Like many people caring for aging parents, I do not want my father dragged into the middle of a contentious political campaign. I chose public service. I am a public figure, but he is not. 

While my opponent and their allies (AIPAC & Trump donors) seek to distract from their record, I’m the only candidate who wants to abolish ICE and protect our communities.
